Software Installer Product installation

This section will outline the steps involved with the installation of the software.

Software installer administration rights needed

The installation of the software requires administration rights. Once installed the software can be used by anybody whether they have admin rights or not.

Close other applications

Prior to installing any software it is always good practice to close all other applications and ensure that all critical data is backed-up to a safe secure and restorable location. It is vital that any software which may be connected to the device be closed during the installation process.

Initiate the execution of the software installer

The software installer can be run by “double clicking” the file or selecting and pressing “enter” on the file from within windows explorer.  This will initiate the installation process which will guide the user through the setup process for their device as detailed in the following steps:

Selection of Language

The installation language will be selected automatically from the Locale of the current machine; in the case that the specific Locale language is not supported then the installation will default to English.

Selection of network operator and dashboard check

You must select your network operator from the drop down list. This screen will also show the dashboard warning if a compatible dashboard is detected.

Accept EULA

The user will be presented with a End User Licence Agreement (EULA). The EULA presented to you depends on the current locale settings of your machine and whether a specific EULA exists for operator.

To continue with the installation you must accept the conditions or the installation will be terminated.

Install location

You are then provided with the option to accept a default location for the product installation or chose an alternative location into which the program will be installed.

It is recommended that the installation is made to the default location unless there are specific reasons why this would not be suitable.

Finish of installation

There install process will continue and you may see a variety of screens.  A progress bar is presented however the timings presented are indicative rather than accurate.

Successful installation is indicated with a finish installation.

Plug n Play version

With this version the Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite software is programmed onto the device at manufacture.

Unlike the software installation process the application executes from the “disk” on the device.  However, prior to the execution of the application suitable system components for the device must be installed on the system e.g. device drivers – these actions occur during the first use of the device on a specific computer.  The rest of the first use process is similar in part to the software installation process although misses any step to do with installation and is much quicker.
